## What to include

Include savings, gold and silver (scholars differ on jewellery worn regularly), shares and funds held to grow or trade, business inventory at sale value, and loans you expect to be repaid. Exclude your home, car, furniture and other personal items. Deduct debts that are due now, such as bills and this month's instalments.

## Zakat for companies

UAE companies do not pay zakat through the tax system; zakat is a personal obligation for Muslim owners. Owners often calculate it from the company's net current assets, which up-to-date [bookkeeping](https://www.countify.ae/services/bookkeeping) makes easy.
