Pro-rata salary calculator
To pro-rate a UAE salary for a part month, divide the monthly salary by 30 (the labour law convention) and multiply by the days employed in that month. Some employers divide by the actual days in the month instead; whichever you use, apply it consistently and state it in your HR policy.

20 days paid in a 31-day month.
| Salary / method | Days paid | Pro-rata salary |
|---|---|---|
| AED 15,000 ÷ 30 | 20 days | AED 10,000.00 |
| AED 15,000 ÷ 31 | 20 days | AED 9,677.42 |
Pick one method and use it consistently; state it in the employment contract or HR policy.
Joiners, leavers and unpaid leave
Use the same daily rate for deductions for unpaid leave and for the last month's salary in a final settlement. Salaries for the part month must still go through WPS on the normal pay date.
Legal basis
We review this calculator whenever the FTA or Ministry of Finance issues a new decision or clarification.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate salary for a partial month in the UAE?
Monthly salary ÷ 30 × days worked, or ÷ calendar days in the month if your policy says so.
Payroll and WPS services
We run monthly WPS payroll, track leave and gratuity, and prepare final settlements correctly, so HR questions do not become labour complaints.
